19th Century 18" Terrestrial Library Table Globe
This is striking and substantially sized 19th Century, circa 1890, 18" Terrestrial Library Table Globe by CF Weber of Chicago Illinois, USA. It is placed on a painted tripod cast iron base with lion paw feet, and has raised cabochon and foliate decoration. It still reads well and the signs of wear and use commensurate with its age enhance its antiquity rather than distract.
CF Weber took over from Andrew’s and Co in the late 19th century; after 1907 Weber merged with Castello to form Weber and Castello to go on to mass produce globes.
