19th Century Traditional Swedish Painted Pine Butter Churn

  • Swedish 19th Century circa 1870
  • Pine painted frame held in place by cane straps
  • Structurally sound with delightful patina
  • Original paint blue
  • Allmoge traditional style

This traditional Swedish Painted Pine Butter Churn from the late 19th Century (circa 1870) still has its original blue colour and although there is an obvious loss of paint due to age appropriate wear it has a delightful patina.  The painted frame is held in place by cane straps and it remains structurally sound.  It would make a fabulous addition to any room as a decorative item or for use nowadays to display a dried floral arrangement or as an umbrella or stick stand.
These were a very significant part of rural Swedish culture and come within the Allmoge traditional style which refers to the historical farmer population and/or ‘common folk’ or peasant culture of Sweden which encompasses furniture, folk art, folk music and much more.
