Brass and Crystal Rococo Style Chandelier
This is a superb quality, large and ornate rewired Brass and Crystal Chandelier in the Rococo manner is very heavy and has a wonderfully aged finish. There is an ornate central column with mid and top acanthus leaf canopy and from this emanate twelve elegantly curved scrolling arms featuring naturalistic acanthus clad branches. The foliated leaf scrolling arms have faux candle stems supported by brass Bobèche1 (candle cup drip pans) formed of overlapping leaves; these are decorated overall with various dangling faceted crystal cut glass pendants. It has been rewired.
1Bobèche is a term used for an annular device that is used for catching wax drips from candles or as an ornamental element taking the same form. On a candlestick, the part can take the form of a dish-like ring, while in a chandelier it may be shaped like a bowl. They can be made of glass or brass or paper as well.
